Baking Tips & Tricks

Test to see if the Easy Chocolate Orange Cupcakes are done with a few simple steps.

  1. First, perform a visual check. Cupcakes should be golden brown, and the tops should spring back when gently touched.
  2. Use a clean toothpick or a cake tester. Insert it into the center of a cupcake. If it comes out clean with no batter or crumbs sticking to it, the cupcakes are done.
  3. Carefully press the top of a cupcake with your finger. If it springs back and doesn’t leave an indentation, they’re likely done.

What is the difference between devil’s food cake and regular chocolate?

Devil’s Food Cake is often made with cocoa powder or dark chocolate, which gives it a rich and deep chocolate flavor. It typically contains buttermilk, which contributes to its tender, moist crumb. Devil’s Food Cake is known for its moist and velvety texture. It’s often lighter and airier than traditional chocolate cake, with a softer crumb. It is darker in color as well.
Regular chocolate cake can vary widely in terms of ingredients. It might use cocoa powder, semi-sweet chocolate, or a combination of both. The recipe can include a range of ingredients, such as milk or sour cream, which affect the cake’s texture and flavor. It is usually a lighter brown color. Easy Chocolate Orange cupcakes recipe
