Want Some Tips? 5 Tips For Making Cut Out Cookies With Box Cake Mix

How Do You Make Every Cookie Even In Dough Thickness?

Clear a clean countertop or table and lightly dust it with flour. This will prevent the dough from sticking and make it easier to roll out. If the dough is too large to handle at once, divide it into two or three equal portions. This will make it easier to work with and roll out to a consistent thickness. Take one portion of the dough and place it onto the floured surface. Flatten it slightly with your hands to make it easier to roll. Begin rolling the dough out from the center, applying even pressure as you move the rolling pin away from you. Roll in different directions to ensure an even thickness.

If you want the Box Mix Cut Out Black Cat Decorated Cookies to be a specific thickness, place two wooden dowels or rulers on either side of the dough. The dowels or rulers should be the desired thickness of the cookies. As you roll the dough, the dowels or rulers will help maintain an even thickness throughout. Occasionally lift the dough gently with a spatula or your hands to prevent it from sticking to the surface. Rotate the dough a quarter turn and continue rolling to achieve an even thickness.

Periodically check the thickness of the dough by using a ruler or a measuring tape. Aim for a consistent thickness of about 1/4 inch (or your preferred thickness) throughout the dough. Repeat the rolling process with the remaining portions of dough until all the dough is rolled out and ready for cutting.

  • Rolling Pin
  • Scary Cut Cookie Cutter
  • Sheet Pan & Parchment Paper

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Of Chocolate cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup oil
  • 16 oz Black frosting
  • Halloween Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the cake mix box.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and oil. Stir well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. You can also place the dough between two sheets of wax paper to prevent sticking.
  • Use cat-shaped cookie cutters to cut out the cat shapes from the dough. If you don’t have cat-shaped cutters, you can also use a knife to carefully cut out the cat shapes freehand.
  • Transfer the cat-shaped cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Leave a little space between each cookie to allow for spreading during baking.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for the time specified on the cake mix box or until they are set and lightly golden around the edges.
  • Once the cookies have cooled completely, it’s time to decorate them. Using the black frosting, pipe or spread it onto the cookies to cover the surface. You can use a piping bag or a small plastic bag with the corner snipped off to pipe the frosting.
  • If desired, add sprinkles to the frosted cookies to create additional decorations or add some texture.
  • Allow the frosting to set before serving or storing the cookies in an airtight container.

Storage Tips & Hacks For Box Mix Cut Out Black Cat Decorated Cookies

Before storing the cookies, ensure they have cooled down completely. Warm cookies can create condensation, leading to moisture buildup and potential sogginess. Select a clean and airtight container that is large enough to accommodate the size of the cookies without squishing or overlapping. A plastic container with a tight-fitting lid or a cookie tin with a sealable lid works well.

Place a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper between each layer of cookies to prevent them from sticking together. This will help maintain their shape and protect the decorative frosting. Store the container of cookies in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight, heat sources, or humidity, as this can affect their texture and freshness. If you have a large quantity of cookies, it’s best to avoid stacking too many layers on top of each other. Box Mix Black Cat Cut-Out Cookies generally stay fresh for about 3 to 5 days when stored properly.
